Our bespoke service offers the opportunity to create something deeply considered, just for you. Shaped by Thompson Lane’s distinct materiality, creative direction and holistic approach, this is a collaborative process built on mutual trust — allowing space for your ideas, the needs of the piece and the possibilities of the ceramic process to come together.

Like everything at Thompson Lane, the bespoke design process is all about the details. We believe the best outcomes aren’t created in isolation, but with a deeper understanding of the space the piece is intended for — where it will sit, how it will be used, what else will surround it and the feeling it is designed to bring.

Bespoke design places are limited, with projects beginning at a minimum spend of $500 so each piece can be approached with intention and a high level of creative consideration.

BESPOKE PROCESS

Start by sharing your vision through the form below. Some questions may be simple to answer, while others are there to gently prompt details you may not have considered yet. Together, they help translate what’s in your mind into a clear starting point.

Reference images are also incredibly helpful in understanding the look and feel you’re drawn to. Please send these to hello@thompsonlane.com.au.

These details will then be reviewed to ensure the project is aligned with our style, process and current studio capacity.

Once we’ve reviewed the initial details and confirmed your project feels aligned, a $100 non-refundable design fee is payable before the design process begins.

This fee covers the initial research, creative direction and design development required to prepare a considered bespoke concept.

Based on your brief and inspiration, an initial design concept will be created with thoughtful consideration given to form, scale, intended function and finishes to suit the space or purpose of the piece.

Some ideas come together quickly, while others need time to unfold. We strive to present initial concepts within 1–2 weeks, allowing space for a considered direction to emerge.

You’ll have the opportunity to provide up to two rounds of feedback before the final design and quote for the making of your piece are confirmed.

Additional revisions or significant changes to the original brief may incur an additional design fee.

Once the final design and quote are approved, a 50% deposit is payable to secure the making of your piece. The remaining balance is due before collection or delivery.

From here, your piece begins to slowly take shape in the studio. Each stage — from forming and drying through to finishing and firing — is completed by hand, with time and care given to the details that make the piece feel distinctly considered.

Timeframes vary depending on the nature of the piece and current studio workload. An estimated completion timeframe will be provided before making begins.

Once your piece is complete, the remaining balance is payable before your order is released. From there, it will be carefully prepared for its journey to you, ready to take its place in the space it was created for.
